saviours of radio?

Podcasts have really taken off, as the brilliant Ricky Gervais podcast indicated, radio 1 etc are doomed. Now I sound like an NME journalist considering that in the new issue (NME, April 12) they claim that Mike Smith’s takeyourmedicinemp3.blogspot podcast is the saviour of radio. It’s like them to come out with such a pretentious title but then you really can’t help but not get excited by the technology.

Just take a look over at Mike Smith’s site, he picks the tunes he wants and chats about them in such a passionate way, there’s no ballshit here. But now he’s got a huge audience and one that is growing every day resulting in him getting guestlists and a free record sent to him and he’s attended single launches in London.

If you have been on my blog before, and you read a post some time ago about myself wanting to make a podcast you will know why I’m getting so excited by this. The NME has quite a bit of coverage on how to do it and a few handy tips which is making me very excited, it seems making my own podcast could become a reality.

The Internet really is the future for bands/artists etc, not just for downloading of music but for podcasting as well.
