New discovery - Flying Lotus

Flying Lotus aka 'Steven Ellison' is a hip-hop music producer, disc jockey, and laptop musician from Winnetka, California.

He has already released one album, 1983, in 2006 to much acclaim and has returned with his second album titled, Los Angeles, this year. It features lush soundscapes built around texture. The addition of static throughout the album is an interesting choice, sometimes filling over some of the empty space. It often moves at a leisurely pace, with the occasional acceleration.

A true grower, and one of the better albums of recent months.
